Wages Protection System (WPS) is an electronic salary transfer system that allows institutions to pay wages via banks, bureaux de change, and financial institutions approved and authorized to provide the service. Developed by the UAE Central , the system allows the Ministry of Labor to create a database that records wage payments within the private sector, guaranteeing timely and complete payment of agreed-upon wages.

Workers: are defined as individuals who work within the private sector for agreed-upon wages and holding a labour card issued by the Ministry.

Employers are organizations that have at least one employee and engage in the performance of a conscious agreement to provide work to others in return for wages. Employers must register their initial application with the Ministry within 30 days of becoming an employer.

Banks are the financial institutions where your employer keeps a bank account used to transfer your wages through the WPS system. It’s important for you or your agent to know if you have a 2-step or 3-step process, and that the bank is correctly designated as your employer’s Electronic Funds Interchange (EFII) Bank.

Agent: A point of sale terminal authorized by the UAE Central Bank as an Agent to provide consumers with an easy, convenient and secure payment alternative. The Central Bank of the UAE issues a regularly updated list showing names of approved WPS agents and their contact details.

Eligibility :

1. The company is required to open a company bank account, which should be verified by the Ministry of Justice
2.  The company should authorize agreed upon service fee with any bank operating in the UAE
3.  Workers’ wages will be transferred via WPS (Wage Protection System) in accordance with timelines established by Ministerial Resolution No. 788 of 2009
